Since October 1988, the Midwest Missouri Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has provided food to over 50 partner agencies and food programs, in an effort to feed children, the working poor, and seniors throughout the counties of Andrew, Buchannan, DeKalb, and Clinton. A member of Feeding America, The Midwest Missouri Food Bank is one of 12 food banks that serves the heartland of America.
People face hunger in every county across Missouri. They could be neighbors and kids in our children's classes. Unfortunately, food insecurity among families continues to grow.
These figures are for Missouri alone. Too many kids in our state worry about their next meal. Hunger deprives kids of more than food, it also impacts their mental and physical health.
People facing hunger in Missouri are estimated to report needing $344,295,000 more per year to meet their food needs, with an average cost of a meal in Missouri at $3.07.
There are many ways to assist your neighbors in need. You can donate to our cause, start a fundraiser asking for support of our organization, or volunteer at the Midwest Missouri Food Bank. Any or all of these efforts will help us end hunger in our communities, and we thank you in advance for your support.
Another way to get involved is to host an event at our food bank where you and your friends or coworkers can pack Care Boxes together for our monthly drive-thru meal pickups. It's a fun way to gather and give back to those in need in our community. To organize your event, simply contact us with any questions you may have and reserve a spot on our calendar!
